“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”—Anais Nin
There are moments in life when you really feel defeated. When it feels that you where knocked down and can’t seem to catch a break, it is a terrible feeling and you can feel really helpless.
One of the very first parameters I started to work on consciously with my own personal development was to improve my outlook on life.
It is over half a decade that I started to delve into this conciousness and to step by step – and while sometimes tumbling backwards – build a more optimistic outlook.
This helped me all through my university days and still helping me to this very day. Learning the power of positive thinking can help you stay positive even in the midst of tragedy.
You have to be able to pick yourself up each time you fall and keep trying. When it seems hard to do so, you can stay positive and constructive with these tips.
I hope you will find something helpful here.
1. Positive self talk
It’s not what we say out loud that really determines our lives. It’s what we whisper to ourselves that has the most power. If you didn’t get the job you were wanting, that just left the door open for better job. Remind yourself of what you have accomplished already and how they made you feel.
2. Get up and be social again
Oftentimes people who feel that their life sucks will remove themselves from social contact. Ironically, this can result to depression. When you get up and socialize, you not only change your scenery a little bit, but you also change your outlook on life and relieve stress. Take small steps to get yourself back into social circles again.
3. Empower yourself
Did you know that only 8% of the things you worry about actually come true? If you are worrying about the worst-case outcome of a situation, then make the choice to do everything you can to avoid it. Empower yourself to plan for the worse, but expect the best.
4. Express what you are grateful for
Even in the worst of times, most of us realize that we still have things in our lives for which we are grateful. Voice those blessings! Practice gratitude.
5. Five Happy Things Everyday
Make a pact to recognize, and then celebrate, five happy things every day. No matter their size or significance, be sure to seek these happy things out and then hold them close so you can see their positive power.
